Can’t believe his career really is going to end having to carry most teams he played on.

I love Bron but I have to wonder if there’s something about having him that is somewhat self-harming… contract? LeGm? the added pressure?

Bron definitely missed out on 1-2 more championships just by having unreliable teammates.

The shelf life of a Lebron team is not very long. It’s usually around 4 years before he jumps ship. They spend every possible asset to build around him which makes it harder to build for the future. When every season is championship or bust you tend to make shortsighted moves.

They should trade Russell for a knockdown shooter like Hield and then have Reaves be full time PG with Vincent off the bench. I think having an elite shooter space the floor will make play making for Reaves and Lebron easier because defenses know they have to respect Hield. But of course Hield will probably forget how to shoot if he joins the Lakers.

Looking back, what other years do you think he could have won a championship if his teammates were more reliable? I’m thinking 2009 is a maybe… Lebron had a superhero performance against the magic, but it just wasn’t enough. Even if his teammates helped carry him past them, I’m not sure if they were going to beat the lakers. would have LOVED to see a Kobe v Bron finals matchup though… beyond that, 2015 is the other one that I think is close? but I can’t imagine they win in 2016 if they won in 2015, so feels like a wash there.

Lifelong Cavs fan here. A lot of those early Cavs teams were wild. We couldn’t get big name free agents but everyone we tried got worse at their strengths. Damon Jones led the league in 3pt% with the Heat. Couldn’t shoot with us. Larry Hughes was decent scorer and led the league in steals with Washington. Couldn’t shoot or play defense with us. Similar stories from his second stint too. But then ironically you get cases like J.R Smith blossoming into the ultimate complimentary piece-- clutch and timely buckets and gritty consistent defense.
