Swapping back and forth all of the time is getting to be a monotonous. I would like to sell one and keep the other. In the beginning I was very partial to the explorer but sometimes I can’t imagine not having the date function. Plus the DJ does sit a larger on the wrist and that is also nice. Tough choice here to just walk away with one…So help me decide because I am really at an impasse with this…
Right
Explorer
Doesn’t the explorer have a better movement and clasp?
And a better case. The Explorer still highlights those lovely case contours by brushing the top of the lugs and only polishing the sides. Current DJ stopped doing that in lieu of the simpler choice to just polish the whole thing like some kind of 90s Breitling Bentley.
Never understood that choice by Rolex. Adds bling, subtracts sophistication/refinement
Movement is basically the same, the Explorer is a cal 3230 movement with no date, while the DJ is a cal 3235 movement with date. Performance wise it’s the same.
You’re missing that the explorer is missing the date.
It also has the better wearing bracelet.
I prefer the explorer. Both are lovely watches though.
The datejust one looks like it has more going on but without being overstated. Looks more classy somehow? More appealing to my eye anyway and I don’t really like them much. They were always more sought after too if I recall so value would be good.
+1, it has less text
Right.
I would go for the Explorer. I’m not a fan of PCL’s, they scratch far to easily.
Explorer
DJ.
I’m in the super minority, but the Explorer dial on wrist looks oddly proportioned. Maybe the Arabic numbers are too big — I don’t feel that was with 34mm references that have Arabic numbers. It doesn’t seem that way in pictures but on wrist I was instantly turned off.
The most egregious example is the Planet Ocean 39. You can barely see the dial for the overly large numbers.
Right. All day long. Not even close.
Explorer but only during waking hours, not even close.
Right
Always Explorer
Left
my choice would be explorer
DJ all day
