The Skyfucker
How many 3s would a lineup of Curry/THJ/Joe/Luka/Lauri & B.Hield as a 6th man make in a game?
THJ contract season in full effect
“let me stretch this graph for no reason so I can choke on Curry’s dick.”
Yeah, he’s the best 3pt shooter, but he’s not “on another planet” dawg.
Steph is so fucking insane, man. Still an outlier on every shooting chart
I completely missed Steph Island on the top right
I was like yeah, no, they fucked up their data and are missing Steph. What an oversight. Oh… nope… Steph’s just that insane.
In a lot of graphs, up and to the right is best. However based on this data, Isaiah Joe is performing more “better” than Steph.
Not really, context matters. You have to take volume and degree of difficulty for those shots into account. If you do that it’s not close.
Its why stephs 3pt record is probably safe for a good while. 3pt attempts seem to have peaked and even now there isn’t 1 player in the league who matches his percentage+volume enough
Lillard seems surprisingly low, no?
This graph shows 3 point makes per 36 minutes and attempts per 36 minutes for players who are in the top 15% of 3 point field goal attempts per 36 and the top 25% of 3 point field goal makes overall.
Some notes:
- Steph Curry is still on another planet from everybody else
- Isaiah Joe and Sam Hauser are the best 3 point specialists in the league so far
- Luka and Laurie are shooting a lot, and well
- Tim Hardaway Jr, Buddy Hield and Bogdan Bogdanovic have shot a lot of volume without a lot of success so far this season
- the Nets should probably find a way to get Lonnie Walker more shots if he’s going to be this efficient
- Last season Dame was about where Luka is on this graph, wonder if he’ll pick up the 3 point volume or stay at a lower clip this year
Graph from here and data from stats.nba.com
This is great work and you’ve built a really cool visualization tool. If it sucked, nearly nobody would bother commenting at all.
There’s value in getting stuff out there for people to react to, and then you can iterate on the good recommendations - which you’ve done. The downside to reddit is that the tone is a lot less considerate than in a work environment as an example.
don’t let the hate get you down, this is informative stuff!
Give timmy his respect 🗣️
Finally found his shot 😢
and Curry’s +/- is zero. Not sure how that is possible other than Wiggins.
God I love Isaiah Joe
I love this dudes name so much. I always call him Oklahoma joe. Is that an actual nickname of his?
My fking brain just reads Iso Joe every time, them it corrects itself because of the length.
I love the man as well. It just pains me the sixers never gave him a real shot. He flashed plenty in preseason and blowouts for us, but we still just let him go.
Sad:(
Yeah, Lillard can’t possible continue to be this bad, hence the Bucks will bounce back and be a serious threat for the chip.
Surprise Luka is not up there with Curry.
Luka isn’t close to curry or any of the great shooters. Career 34 percent from 3.
Steph always ruins these graphs.
top right messi type of stuff
The “Per 36” is kinda distorting the value of this for me. Itll make role players look better and stars look a bit worse.
Well you want to make an apples to apples comparison across players. You can filter out the roles guys with <15 mins per game. The bigger issue for me is that it isn’t pace adjusted. Per minute stats are heavily overused
Hawkins is killing it, insane when he started the season really cold
Didn’t even see Steph for the first 5 seconds. Sheesh.
