He’s the engine behind the Knicks and their most valuable player, he essentially upholds their identity of being strong on the boards and a strong offensive team all on his own. Not all of his benefit shows up on the stat sheet - on either side of the ball. I genuinely think he’s been better than Gobert, KAT, and Adebayo.

You really need to sit down with the list of centers and play would you rather for a few minutes.

Sabonis or Mitch? Bam? Myles Turner? Wemby? Chet? Lopez? Gobert? Sengun? Is AD a center?

Top 5 is a bit too much. I think of his current production as gobert lite. That being said, Mitch is only doing what he’s asked to right now and that’s what I love about him. We don’t know how much more he could provide if he was given more offensive opportunities. We all have seen him working on his 3 point shot and post work every off season. Until they let him try doing some of that in games we won’t know what he can be. I do know that some pg in this league could easily get his ppg up to around 15 just working the pick and roll with him. IMO he’s a seriously under utilized lob threat with us right now.

Another big thing to note is the money to production ratio. I think a lot of teams would rather have Mitch over gobert just because of the cap hit. That doesn’t make him better than gobert. Would you turn away kat or bam if you could get them at the same price as Mitch? Absolutely not.
