From Manila, it’s safe.
Been to most of ASEAN countries and I nominate Hanoi and Saigon. The only SEA cities that I have been scammed and overcharged. They have a huge scam there where vendors will change 100k dong to 10k dong because of their similarity. Absolute scam cities.
Don’t use your phone or keep things easy to grab in your parents if you are riding jeepney in Philippines. I have had people in past try and grab my shit. Nothing gone but they try really fast and move on. Mostly when we are stopped at a light.
Nowhere really. It’s safe everywhere. Maybe Cambodia but even that country is quite tame
I agree with OP on Manilla, it was way worse than anyplace I’ve been in Cambodia.

Bag/phone/camera/jewelry snatching is very common in Phnom Penh. I lived there for most of my 20s and it happened once or more to most of the people I knew there. It happened to my wife twice, one of the times she was pulled off of our moto in the process and was injured badly.
Do not have your phone out in tuk tuks, walking down the street, etc. don’t walk with a purse over your shoulder unless you have a jacket or something over it.
