Top 10 Scorer TS% w/ Them TS% w/o Them Gap
Luka 60.8% (2nd) 59.8% (6th) +0.99%
Embiid 59.6% (7th) 58.9 (9th) +0.64%
Steph 55.4% (24th) 52.4% (30th) +3.03%
KD 58.6% (9th) 57.0% (18th) +1.49%
Jokic 59.1% (8th) 57.0% (18th) +1.95%
SGA 60.9% (2nd) 60.8% (3rd) +0.07%
Tatum 60.1% (5th) 59.0% (9th) +1.12%
Maxey 59.6% (7th) 58.9% (9th) +0.62%
Giannis 60.1% (5th) 59.6% (7th) +0.45%
Mitchell 57.0% (19th) 56.7% (19th) +0.22%

Remove the scoring possessions of each top 10 scorer… what does the rest of their team’s scoring efficiency look like? Golden State’s 52.4 TS% outside of Curry would rank last among teams. They’ve also shot what would be a by far league worst 46.4 eFG% on open/wide open shots.

If Golden State outside of Steph scored at league average efficiency, their team’s overall scoring efficiency would currently rank 8th rather than 24th.

Theyre shooting hilariously bad on open shots, team is currently 36.5% from the field and 26.6% from three on open shots, when you remove Steph it 30.6% from the field and 17.9% on threes, last year they were 45.3% and 37.6% respectively. All their other zones line up with last year production:

wide open: 44.6% from the field and 40.5% on threes this year, 45% from the field and 41.9% on threes last year

tight: 51.9% from the field and 40% on threes this year, 51.6% from the field and 31.5% on threes last year

very tight: 46.7% from the field this year, 49.2% from the field last year

So one of two outcomes is likely to happen, either 1) the Warriors will have a historically poor shooting season, or 2) theyll regress too the mean

I’ve notice not much noise over a possible Steph mvp season but…….

If Steph gets this team in the top 4 seeds is he the MVP?

    Yeah.

I didn’t get why anyone was acting like they were a threat last year or this season.

    They are DONE.

Historically great run. But, they’re just done with their current roster.

Steph will still put up some crazy nights. No team will actually WANT to play them in the playoffs because defending Steph for 4-5 games will wear a team out.

But, I can’t imagine any team would actually be afraid of GS in a playoff series.

Klay literally led the league in 3’s last year at over 40%. You really believe he is going to shoot this bad all year? He started off worst last year and then was on fire the whole 2nd half of the season.

Wiggins has Shor 37%+ since coming to golden state. You think he forgot how to shoot and is now going to shoot 18% for the rest of the year?

Kelly Oubre notoriously started off shooting at a historically bad rate his 1st couple months here. Then caught fire and was fine the rest of the season.

It’s hilarious to me that people don’t understand that a regression to the mean is coming. We literally JUST went through this with Klay last year lol.

Look I get it, “haha look at Klay and Wiggins! Klays career is over and Wiggins was always bad!”. I’m rolling laughing.

The reality is its extremely unlikely they will be missing THIS many shots over the course of the entire season. I’m not saying we’re gonna win or Klay hasn’t started to decline or anything. Just that they have been hilariously bad to start and they will average out to at minimum “kinda bad” over the course of the season.

They are 6-7 with Klay and Wiggins playing the worst they’ve probably ever played. I’m not too worried at all tbh, we don’t need them to play their best to compete.

Curry is the true mvp. Go from the worst team in the league without him to a playoff team with him.

OKC is good without SGA on the floor.

I used to pray for a time like this.

But yeah, Steph needs some help.

Good?! Dude that first game had me in awe. I’ve never seen a team stay hot literally throughout the entire game.

I was extremely excited for this bench this year just for Wiggins and Klay to turn into belarussian middle school bench warmers
