I only have a few watches. My first was the Citizen Bm8180, and my main squeeze is a Seiko SRPE55 (Dresskx). Both of those watches are black dialed, with both day and date complications. I knew I wanted a Boldr Venture for a beater, and I wanted a white dial for something different. The problem was the lack of date complication on the models I was looking at. Long story longer, I bought this white dialed, dateless watch and I hated it. I missed the date big time, and was having a hard time fitting the white watch into my wardrobe which almost always consists of a black base (shoes, belt, wallet etc). I initially didn’t like it on a black strap, but it’s growing on me. I bought the titanium bracelet also which works out pretty well.
On to the datelessness. I liked the other aspects of the watch, and wanted to give it a reasonable chance and thought, “Damn, is it really that hard to remember the date??” It was for a short period of time, but after intentionally focusing on the day and date for a moment each morning at work, I’ve found it’s not only quite easy to remember, but pretty rewarding. I always know the date now, immediately. No phone, no watch, it’s just become automatic. I feel a lot more connected to the calendar and can visual my crazy weeks by date better than ever. In a world where we outsource our entire brain to some sort of tech, it feels nice to tune in and get with the program. Thanks y’all.
Love the case shape on the Venture. I wish they did the GMT with an automatic movement.
