I have Schlage deadbolt lock and Ring doorbell and alarm system installed in the front door of my house. Although they are connected with each other but locking or unlocking the Schlage lock does not arm or disarm my alarm system. I am trying to figure that out. Now i am looking for a smart lock for my garage door. Currently it has a simple Schalge lock (not smart and not deadbolt). The key works with the Schlage smart lock in the front. Should i go ahead with the Schalge lock again? The only pro being i get to use the same key for the deadbolt. Its much costly and the integration with Ring alarm is not 100%. Or do I get a entirely different smart lock which would be cost effective but fully integrated with Ring? Tbh, Ultimately i plan to use Home Assistant primarily. Any help??

Ditch ring asap. Trying to integrate with a cloud based and frankly integration hostile service is just asking for trouble.

HASS is more than happy to deal with many far better alarm systems.

I got a new house where the builder provided and installed ring alarm system with door bells. So right now i am kind of stuck with ring.

If you use Home Assistant you can pitch that ring alarm. I did my own alarm in Home Assistant. You can use any number of triggers to arm the alarm.

With Home Assistant you can also use Keymaster and program the locks keycodes from Home Assistant. Much easier than using the lock to program codes.

Okay so i can get any lock right now and when I have HA setup then I can arm and lock just with HA triggers? The only downside will be that i will have a different physical key for the garage door.

i think getting a different smart lock fully integrated with Ring would be cost effective, especially if you’re planning to use Home Assistant primarily. having a different physical key for the garage door might not be a big issue if you rarely use it with a smart lock.
