He was shooting 3s at 36% in his first two seasons. Right now he is in mid-20‘s or something percentage-wise. Missing a lot of open shots.

What happened? Did he change something in his game or in his shot? Or is it just not big enough of a sample size?

His takes this year have been more difficult and less in rhythm. He sometimes pulls up from way outside and it comes up short. His shot also does look more flat like other people have said, so hopefully he gets into a groove soon.

It’s almost like concrete conclusions shouldn’t be drawn from 10-15 game statistical sample sizes at the start of the season.

He’s trash and a bust just like Orlando fans say about Cade…but didn’t you know Franz is better? 😂😂

From watching him every game I would narrow it down to 2 things: he’s taking a lot of the bail-out shots for the Magic, and he’s shooting them at a higher volume and greater distance.

When we don’t have anything going offensively, he’ll get the ball at the arc with ~10 seconds left and he’ll either drive or step back three to keep the defender guessing. He’s hit a couple but most of the time it’s a tough, far shot ontop of his low arc.

Early in the season he was our leading 3p% scorer, and I think he’s actually gotten more consistent at catch and shoot (given that he’s not 5 extra feet away from the arc), and he’s reliable when he’s wide open.

I also think his low arcing shot is just his shot, he was like that since we drafted him and hes 85% free throw shooter so he’s comfortable with it.

He’s been attempting 3s at a way higher rate than the last 2 seasons. He’s up to 5.3 3PA this season opposed to 4.5 and 3.4 3PA the last two seasons. This tells me he’s working to add them into his offensive arsenal; probably because it would greatly stretch the floor out for him and the team.

He didn’t have much of a summer because of FIBA, but I don’t think that’s as big of a deal as some people make it out to be because some of the shots he takes are just Luka-level type of shots.

Fwiw I love Franz and have been watching him closely every game since we drafted him, hope this helps :)

Dude is shooting 85% from the line so it’s clear he can shoot, he is just in a bit of a slump from the field. He’ll come right soon
