How much value does the IST hold in most NBA fans eyes? Should the winner of the IST have a parade for winning the championship? Hang a banner? I’m curious what people think.
I hate these new floors
I don’t really care much about the outcome, what I like is that the games so far have felt a little more important, be it real hype or artificial, and it keeps both teams playing until the buzzer with the incentived point differential.
I do think the league should do something to make the payout seem more impactful to fans though. Like, I don’t care that millionaire athletes can win extra money for winning, but it would be cool to see the win count towards something in the season. Not sure how you do it, but yeah.
Totally agree. It’s not a playoff atmosphere, but in pretty much all of these games so far, they’ve felt far more intense than any other fame you could expect in November over the last few years. I could see where initial criticisms came from for this tourney, but at the same time the NBA consists of the ~450 best players in the world, and it’s ridiculous to think they won’t be competitive with a prize on the line. I might be biased cause of success rn, but I’m all about the IST hahahah
I think it’s level of importance is inversely proportional to how bad the winning team has been in the recent past
I’m seriously hoping it’s some random team with zero chance of making playoffs.
you know when marathons or charity runs have a mini run for little kids?
Parade? Hell no. And that is from a team that hasn’t won anything since the ABA days. Ceremony before the next home game with extra fanfare that I’ll actually attend, instead of rolling from a bar 5 minutes before the tip? Absolutely! Banner? Idk, maybe.
I’m a pacers fan too :D
I think it will become a bigger deal after a few years when there is some history/rivalry built up with it.
