I tried on the Speedmaster at the boutique. It was a lot bigger and thicker than I expected (I have a 39mm reduced, purchased 20 years ago). I like the moonphase, a useless but very pretty, feature. I don’t like light/thin watches (tried on a Cartier Santos Du Mont and it was too light/thin).

My wrist size is 16mm. If you have shopped these two watches (about same price), what are your thoughts?

We have the exact same size wrist

I have tried both. The Speedmaster was definitely to big lug-to-lug wise, I also think the Speedy Reduced is a far better fit

The JLC moonphase should have been perfect… but for some strange reason, it fit so awkwardly, and just felt wrong. Shame, I would 100% go for the JLC otherwise

The perfect watch may be the one you already have

I have the JLC on steel and absolutely love it. I have a Speedy Moonwatch and I love it, too, but for a moonphase the JLC is just more elegant for me. Both beautiful and a matter of opinion, obviously!

thank you for your feedback. You have two great watches! Do you find the JLC much lighter than your Speedmaster?

Maybe I will end up getting both…eventually!

I do find it wears a little lighter, though not as much on steel. In leather it wears quite a bit lighter. I love how my speedy fits, don’t get me wrong, but it is just a touch a bigger.

How did you like the thickness and weight on the JLC? It’s much thinner and lighter than a Speedmaster.

I have both a Speedy moon phase and a JLC MUT moon. They’re both wonderful watches but to me quite different. The JLC to my taste is a dress watch and much more elegant. The Speedy is a sports watch and better suited to daily wear. I think on smaller wrists the Speedy probably wears better on a strap.
