      kinda does mess up the game. the rims are made of normal material. They aren’t invincible to bending or breaking. It’s not just the showboating thing. You can f up the rim. Shaq famously shattered backboards without meaning to do so

        I hate this logic. The NBA made $10.6 BILLION last year alone. Get stronger rims. After Shaq broke rims, they made them stronger. That was like 2 decades ago. I can almost guarantee they have a way to make the shit even stronger now.

        This is also a business thing. People come to see vicious dunks and rim hanging among other things. Instead of calling more flopping fouls, they choose to bring down the whole crowd after one of the most hype moments of a game.

      I was thinking, f yeah nice dunk but then he pulled up on the rim and ruined it. Would have liked better if he just let go and dropped down.
