I’ve seen in the past this question brought up with the answer being “no you can’t”. But I know over time new products release and maybe things change.

We want to install cordless cellular shades for all the windows in the house. My wife is on board but only if they can used manually too. It’s non-negotiable for her. It’s not about power outages or batteries, she just wants that the blinds can still be useable if the motor breaks without needing to warranty or buy a new one.

Again non-negotiable, hoping there’s new options out there.

I know this isn’t what you are looking for but wanted to make sure you know about it:

Somfy makes a tilt motor that can be self-installed in 2" blinds. It uses batteries (both AA or rechargeable)and is made by a good quality manufacturer. It works in power outages. We have had a bunch installed for almost a year and have not changed batteries or needed to changed them yet. If I wanted local control I would mount a remote at the window and it comes with a mount to do just that.

These are a tilt motor only. Opening the blinds as in up or down is still done manually with the pull string.

I appreciate the thought. We can’t have pull strings because cats. The ratty blinds that came with the house had pull strings…and now they don’t. Which is why we want cordless cellular.
