Hey Reddit,
I’ve been super into watches for a while now and have built up a collection I’m really proud of. Plus, I work at a company in the NFT space. Just a heads up for those who aren’t familiar, NFTs are basically a digital way to show you own something on the blockchain.
Now, forget all about those ape and rock images. The real deal with NFTs is how you can buy, flip, and even get loans against them. I was thinking, this could be awesome for the watch world. Picture this: each watch is safely stored in a trusted warehouse but represented by an NFT. This means you could buy, borrow, and more. And if you want, you can get it delivered right to your door.
What do you think?
Horrible idea. I hate every part of it. I don’t like NFTs in the least and keep watches out of it.
That this is inappropriate to this sub.
That sounds like the worst thing ever.
Absolute nonsense - and the kind of desperate ideas that the failed NFT world is trying to float.
This will be on the circle jerk sub in no time…
There are better ways for high risk „investment“ (in other places itˋs called gambling)……if I wanˋt to have a high risk of loosing my money with little chance of winning the bank I go to a high class casino (with my watch on my wrist btw), drink champagne and play roulette. I am sure that there are really good ways to use NFTs, but not for watches or art.
Why would I want a watch that I own to be in a warehouse? What’s the fucking point in that?
So we could buy and sell the nfts, and the watch would stay in a warehouse…
One question - why would anyone want to?
