New NBA fan here. I started getting interested in the NBA this year as my friends and I started a Bball fantasy league. I drafted Javier Morant in the 5th round knowing he was suspended but thought it was good value for the pick+Memphis is my favourite team.

I’m getting destroyed in my pool, when is Javier coming back? Also, the Grizz are currently bottom feeders, is Morant return enough to compensate the lost of Dillon Brooks?

They might be able to make the playin but I’d be surprised at any better then that, and even with Ja back with such a limited front court I don’t see them contending with any of the top end teams in the west, which leaves them at a first round exit.

I know this is crazy to say with Ja still being so young but it sorta feels like they should tank and hope for a legit draft pick since Ja ensured their shit season (even before the Adams injury’s seriousness came to light)

With two other big pieces missing…sadly, even if Ja was a saint, this season feels all but lost…

Strange Canadian nephew who comments in Lakers/Thunder and no flair.

EDIT: First comment about Ja. Damn bruh did your main account get banned and this is your 4 month old burner?

What would tanking look like? If you want to predict whether or not theyre going to tank you have to look at more than just basketball statistics. The grizzlies were. A bad team not that long ago, which means they had low revenue. Imagine increasing your revenue by 50%, and then tanking immediately.

Not a chance. This team is going to put the best product out there they can. Theyre trying to grow and protect their gains, not gamble it on a single draft pick. Youre talking about tanking to get a draft pick and youre not even thinking qbout the literal hundred million in revenue theyd lose as a result

The season is over man. Let it go. Most NBA revenue is pretty fixed. If they lost a few million in single game seat sales that’s a drop in the bucket.

38-28 to get 41-41 which is probably play in seems like a pretty big ask for this team especially given that there is 9 games before ja comes back.

Hypothetically, if they went 6-19 by the time Ja comes back (Griz go 3-6 in their next 9), they’d have to go 35-22 (.610) to reach the same 41-41 mark.

At that point just tank it and get a top pick. Plenty of SF this year and they could use one

Not a particularly strong class tbh. Not sure which of the projected lottery talents would be a scoring wing with some self creation and decent defensive ability that the Grizzlies are missing

Yea I have had the same thought. Injuries on top of the suspension has tanked their year. They likely will be something like 5-20, 6-19. Best case would be like 9-10 seed in the play in maybe? If all goes really well

No he can’t save the grizzlies season as the grizzlies issue isn’t just missing ja.

They are missing alot of players and lack rebounding something Steve Adams was really important for the grizzlies.

Basically ja is good but the teams so gutted either injuries he wouldn’t helped them this season after such a rough start, but I wouldn’t be surprised if next year they do amazingly
