A VERY SURPRISING stat as the Suns have never led the league in BPG in like…FOREVER… Firstly, and secondly, without having any individual shotblocker standout in the team… They currently have 4 guys averaging at least 1 BPG (interestingly enough from 1.3, 1.2, 1.1 and 1 , respectively by Nurkic, KD, Eubanks and Keita Bates Diop) and another 3 guys at 0.6 BPG (Little, Gordon and Devin Booker)… Teams can no longer drive at them at will and think they won’t be met with stiff resistance at the rim :-)
They are basically “gangblocking” right now and stepping up their defense in a big way in their current 7 game winning streak :-) Can’t wait to see how much better their defense can get when they have all their players back together and gel even more as the season moves on :-)
But Tim Bontemps said the Suns “can’t really guard anybody”. I think he’s been watching too many Pacers highlights.
Little Timmy is the dumbest nba reporter out there
Every team KD goes to, the rim protection is automatically leveled up.
Last season him and Claxton were leading the league in blocks as well.
We need to give Vogel a little credit, too.
He doesn’t usually get credit for his defense because it’s not good enough to be considered superstar level, but he’s still REALLY good at it.
Steph got more buzz for playing above average defense(which fr fr makes him an absurd player overall) than Durant did for playing great on that end.
The fact that KD has been even a positive defender with his offensive skillset is kinda nutty. But he has actually been very good, which elevates him to that next level of generational talent. Such a blessing to be able to watch him play at this level in 2023.
Makes sense after they replaced that bust Ayton with a legit center like Nurkic
Or that bum Monty with a defensive minded coach in Vogel. The whole point of the post is that it’s not 1 man.
