The in-season tournament wouldn’t be half as stupid if they at least had some G League teams or invited other minor league teams to play in it. If they want to emulate a cup-style tournament in soccer, then they should fully embrace it. Have teams from outside of the NBA compete, even if they’d have no chance to make it far.
Otherwise, it’s completely meaningless since the regular season and playoffs still work exactly the same as they always have.
I know nothing about how soccer works, but do you mean teams from leagues in other countries that are lower level or second tier leagues (like the ones that teams get relegated to).
Really wish we had a relegation system in the US somehow, quite like that idea.
I mean teams from minor leagues in the US. And I’m not talking about a promotion/relegation system, I just mean have G League or other minor league teams play in the in-season tournament. That’s all.
