The nbacirclejerkers, which is a lot of the users here, love when this sort of thing happens and don’t try to hide it at all.

Maybe you consider them the trolls but the excitement is real for a lot of them.

I’m not like, PUMPED to see the news, but to me, the news is more that a potential pedophile is going to be investigated as opposed to whether or not pedophilia is occurring, if that makes sense.

People out here hoping, praying, wishing this dude is a pedophile so they can talk about anything other than basketball

even if dude was 20 having sex with a 16-17 year old (illegal) we gotta stop calling dude a pedo unless hes diddling literal children. It takes the meaning away from the word.

Tf do you mean, takes away the meaning? It means what it is and if a grown ass man is going around grooming teenage girls, he doesn’t deserve the distinction.

It’s also always the most suspicious dudes who wanna be like “aktually, it’s ephebophile”

The severity is not lost on me that this situation isn’t as bad as it could’ve been and Giddey isn’t a textbook pedophile. And I understand primal instincts don’t give a fuck about laws and societal norms. But there’s a pretty dense moral line he allegedly crossed and it’s like one of the top 5 easiest laws to not break.

Yep. Guarantee even if he is found not guilty or nothing comes of this investigation everyttime Giddeys name is brought up here someone is gonna say: “Didn’t he get caught with an underaged girl ?“

If you think a not guilty verdict in a case where a rich, famous, white man is the defendant against a random high school teenager proves anything factual, then you’re incredibly naïve.

Likely we’ll never know what actually happened, and the family will take the money.

What money? There isn’t any complaining witness for a criminal case let alone a civil suit brought by the girls family.

Do you understand how the law works.

If we don’t know what actually happened, and all we have is a bit guilty verdict then maybe we should shut the fuck up and not throw around dumb fuck allegations like morons.

Allegations alone are so insanely damaging. Even if this is all complete BS, which I hope is the case, many companies that may have wanted to offer him an endorsement deal won’t anymore. Who knows how much financial damage this will do.

I dunno man, there’s probably a lot of diehard NBA fans who just wanna see a player suffer real consequences for being a horrible criminal if he is one.

It can be hard to reconcile your love of the game with players like Miles Bridges being invited back to the league with applause.

You can love basketball and not like the players involved, they’re not your family.

The moment you realize that talent will always overshadow morality when millions of dollars are on the line, you will live a happier life. It’s corrupt and it won’t change.

Bruh it’s just sports. You watch them because they jump high and run fast, not because you give a fuck about what kind of person they are.
