The Timberwolves now sit at 13-4, the current #1 seed in the Western Conference, almost 1/4 through the season.
Rudy Gobert defensive rating: 102.3 (#1 in the league)
KAT defensive rating: 104 (#2 in the league this year / averaged 109 historically)
Timberwolves: 106.6 (#1 in the league)
If they make the finals this year; are we still saying it was an overpay?
Honestly that still depends. The amount of assets they traded for him means that its a win now situation.
Like in the long run if they dont win a championship, then its a failure no matter how well they perform.
But in the short term, just getting past the first round and having a good record in the regular season is more than enough for it to be worth it for now.
But still with these stars you are trading away your teams future to win it all.
If you dont win or at least dont get back like half the assets you traded for them if you trade them away, then its just a failure.
The Nets superteam may have failed, but they did get a ton of assets after trading their superstars away.
But Gobert in my eyes is still way too much. Like he is amazing, but they could have negotiated a much lower deal for him. The man isnt even a superstar, yet they traded for him like he was Jokic or Embid.
