Not a Wemby hater at all. Seems to have all the potential in the world.
All I am saying is that before and even after the draft, I just kept pointing out that he WAS NOT ANYWHERE CLOSE to being the most hyped prospect ever. Pure absurdity if you are old enough to remember LeBron’s hype.
And I remember national sports publications asking if Wemby could lead the Spurs to the playoffs this season. Kept pointing out that the Spurs are AWFUL and may - outside of Wemby - have the worst roster in the league. Fast forward to today. The Pistons are 2-16 and have lost 15 straight. People are starting to wonder if they have the potential to finish with the worst record ever.
The Spurs have won more win.
It is very possible to be excited about a young player and want to see what be becomes while also not just losing your damn mind.
I’m old enough to remember LeBron James’ hype. And I think there’s a very good chance Victor would go # 1 over him. If Victor was an American he’d have been a household name from 14 years old on as well.
Basing the “draft hype” or draft value on how they turned out isn’t the right way to do it.
