What an ugly vehicle. It looks like a real life low-poly car from a 90s game…
Reminds me of Minecraft
Yeah, but the Ford Lightining already exists & I feel dirty saying this, but Ford makes better vehicles.
Yeah, Ford deserves some credit for their electric program. Theyve done a good job with quality, reliability, and pricepoint.
“yeah but don’t you know what ford stands for? Fix it again, tony”

Ford can make good vehicles. They turned the corner with the Taurus.
And I really dislike American car companies. I still won’t own one, but have to admit they’ve gotten tremendously better. (Have owned them, have them in my family. Hate working on them.)
The lightning is ugly AF too.
To be fair, Tesla makes better vehicles than Playskool.
Not by a large margin, though.
Musk claimed the Cybertruck is better than any other truck but also more of a sports car than any other sports car, made of a “special Tesla designed steel alloy” that he claimed will never rust and which cannot be stamped but which can also be produced in volume.
The skepticism is coming through very heavy and I’m all for it.
Musk implied that in a crash with another vehicle, the Cybertruck—which weighs 6,603–6,843 lbs (2,995–3,104 kg)—will destroy the other vehicle.
It’s a car, not a battlebot. Nobody should want to destroy the other vehicle in the event of a crash.

Have you ever met an American?
😏
Six thousand lbs. Holy fuck.
I’m pretty sure that like 1500lbs more than any mid-size pickup (Toyota Tacoma, Honda Ridgeline), and as much as a full-size pickup.
My Ram 3500 is 7500 lbs.
And that’s a 3500.
Any idea what the 1500 weighs? Gotta be notably less.
IIRC, the last generation Tundra came in at 6000lbs, in 2wd form. Think 6500 for 4wd.
My diesel Navara (Frontier in the US) is 4500lbs but then again any electric vehicle is going to be heavier than ICE cars. Rivian R1T weights 8500lbs
That’s impressive for a diesel. Diesel usually adds a lot of weight, and that’s spot-on a mid-size truck weight.
Modern SUVs will already crush the smaller cars, don’t have to get a special car for that
Yes, but this will crush a modern SUV. US car manufacturing is entering arms race stage. Soon the only save way to travel will be in a tank.
Drive Offensively! Time to mount a surplus .50-caliber machine gun on my Chevy.

Good luck getting this thing homologated in Europe. Or any country outside the US, really. I mean, I guess the Russians will take it. Then at least we’ll see how bullet proof it really is.
Ok, a cybertruck hits a hatchback. Which vehicle do you want your family in?
The only thing this will be good for is when they do a Back to The Future reboot in 10 years time…
i fucking hope not. there’s a few films and series that should never be remade or ‘rebooted’, and bttf is one of them.
I agree completely but we both know that is not going to stop them doing it.
They did it to Ghostbusters.
yes. yes they did. i still haven’t been able to get all the way through the ‘reboot’.
I think it’ll be better suited to a Mad Max reboot.
You built a time machine out of a cybertruck ?!
i dont see it. the delorean was actually a neat vehicle with a few drawbacks. the cybertruck is 100% hot garbage.
Just say the stainless steel body helps the flux capacitor work and you are good to go.
Most reboots are about call backs that are not as good as the original.
Wait, they actually made that thing? I assumed the project would be canceled after everyone laughed at the reveal.
If you have ever worked for a large corp, you would understand.
“This is the bosses pet project. It doesn’t matter how stupid it is, he wants it made and yes it will still be our fault when it is a total fucking disaster!”
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Musk, who has mostly made headlines in recent weeks for endorsing virulent antisemtitic theories on his social media platform, took to the stage almost half an hour late, initially delivering his presentation from the back of a truck with his face hidden in shadow.
Mindful of the window-breaking debacle during the truck’s debut in 2019, Tesla designer Franz von Holzhausen came on stage to throw baseballs at its windows.
Musk’s presentation made it sound like Tesla has developed a lot of new technology for the Cybertruck, which will come as a surprise to the OEMs that have already delivered vehicles with four-corner air suspension, 48 V ancillary systems, and torque-vectoring drive units.
We did find out some more of the truck’s specifications, like its 0.34 drag coefficient (worse than a Rivian R1T, better than a Ford F-150, albeit with a larger frontal area than either).
And it has a 0–60 mph time of 2.6 seconds, possibly while towing a sports car, although it’s unclear whether that was conducted with knobby off-road tires.
I braved the Beltway earlier today to go check it out and can report that although roped off behind stanchions, the fit and finish appeared far better than the preproduction prototypes that have been seen driving in the wild.
