Sigh. I feel like this was the long game for Project 2025. They want to break up the US Federal government by getting us to all hate it and its power. Then it would be more like a confederacy where each state is more autonomous. Once that happens, the states themselves will be much easier for the billionaires to conquer and turn into their own fiefdoms.
Frankly speaking I think they’re just stupid and are basically a ratking of different groups each pulling a different direction, all of this unified under Trump’s dumbass cult of personality. You have the fascists who want to increase federal power until it’s fully totalitarian, the corporations who are kinda aligned but ultimately just want to make money and grift, and then you have the weirdos who want to decentralize everything because they’re convinced that theyll be the new oligarchs like with Russia. The only real unifying force is that they’re all weirdo regressives who all vaguely hate everyone else more than each other.
Yeah, the chaos of it all is a tactic. Russel Vought saw how the firehose of falsehoods in the original Trump admin was weaponized to allow all kinds of illegal and horrible shit take place with no consequences. So he picked his horse and bet the house that Trump would be the perfect cover for the destruction of the federal government. He and Trump would use that opportunity to steal tens (or hundreds) of billions each so they could then become neofeudal lords of the ashes.
Which is also stupid, if the federal government collapses it’s probably taking the stock market, USD, and a solid chunk of the economy with it. If they think collapsing the feds will magically put them in charge because they have the most monopoly money then I have a bridge to sell them. Seriously they seem to think they’ll be the raider kings of the bronze age collapse meanwhile they’ll be close to the vikings getting their teeth kicked in by Brian Boru because they ran into a vaguely organized state, if even that.
I never accused them of being smart enough to see the ramifications of their destruction. They also don’t realize their little technofacist enclaves will be swiftly invaded by previously aggrieved states with standing armies that want to exact revenge for the US’s myriad crimes against humanity inflicted upon them.

Increasing federal power is a 4D-chess move to decrease federal power?
Weirdly, yes. The conservatives have been screeching for decades that the federal government is too powerful. Their goal was always to reduce federal control in order to get more control for themselves. They were told by the federal government “dont pollute that river, it’s illegal.” and so they decided “well if the government can’t tell me not to pollute that river, then I can pollute that river.” So I believe that was their long goal. Make the government completely intolerable, even for the most devout big-government liberal. Then they will have a cultural movement to dismantle the government.
Then when everyone is distracted - whoops slavery is legal again.
