They have been building electric buses in Ontario since 2019. But it shut down because of shitty engineering.

The city eventually settled its lawsuit with BYD in May 2019, and never paid BYD for its faulty vehicles. City officials ended up using money from the original project to order diesel-powered buses.

not even natural gas or propane.

Well seeing it’s been 9 years since then, and BYD has become one of the world’s leading EV manufacturers in the meantime, one can hope that they’ve learnt a few things along the way.

Nope. Toronto bought a bunch in 2020 and they were all decommissioned by 2025 for reliability problems. Then, BYD shut down in Ontario because of lawsuits.

This is what concerns me about Chinese EVs coming to Canada.

Aren’t they the leading EV manufacturer now?
I thought they beat out Tesla a couple years ago, or last year?
