Hyundai sold 268,785 EVs last year as demand for the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 picked up. The South Korean automaker plans to strengthen its leadership in the EV market, with new models gaining momentum.
During the last three months of 2023, Hyundai sold over 57,975 electric vehicles globally. With this, Hyundai’s global EV sales reached 268,785 in 2023.
Hyundai attributed the growth to higher sales of its dedicated IONIQ EVs. Based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, designed specifically for EVs, the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 are gaining ground despite rising competition.
The company saw solid sales growth across key markets, including North America, Europe, and India.
…with a Tesla charger in the picture.
While the car makers all started to manufacture electric cars, Musk gave away his battery tech without patent protection and used taxpayer dollars to build electric charging stations (equivalent to gas stations) across the country.
Now you don’t have to buy a Tesla, you can buy any electric vehicle, but Musk gets your dollars to charge it.

Car makers blocked EVs for decades. Tesla fixed that problem. Now you can go out and buy a GM Bolt and not have to worry… wait. Never mind. I have been told GM discontinued it’s best selling EV in history.
This is misleading as if you read the terms and conditions by using tesla’s patents you are forgoing your right to sue tesla for any form of patent infringement and intellectual property infringement. By using tesla’s patents you are allowing tesla to use your patents and trademarks as they see fit with no legal repercussions. You are not allowed to have a financial stake in any competing patents. And you are not allowed to sell “knock-off” products without defining what a “knock-off” product is meaning tesla may revoke access to your patents retroactively. Tesla’s open source patents are far from being actually open source.
