That command and conquer cast had no right to be that star-studded. Tim Curry was the only one who really got it, though – the franchise had fully run off the rails by then in terms of the feasibility of its alternate history, and committing fully to the ridiculousness was the correct choice.
It’s one of those things that rather than trying to take itself too seriously, they embraced a certain amount of cheesy over-the-top performance that made it more entertaining and likely more fun for the actors as well.
Honestly I wish more games would go back to that culture/era rather than trying to be the next epic. The cutscenes from C&C were damned art, games like Warcraft 2/3 had some great Easter eggs from continually clicking units (including “me not that type of Orc” , or the necromancer’s rather edgy “I love the dead… frequently”), and even Diablo had the Cow Level etc
That was really something. He barely got that out.
I can hear it in my head without even watching it. And I’ve never played the game.
I’ve never played it either and it was the first thing I thought of when I heard he passed.
Him and Defoe would’ve been legendary. A real shame it never materialized.

I remember that so well. The writing and acting and everything was so cheesy, but what I remember most was it felt like computer gaming had almost gone mainstream. It HAS now, but that was still in the days when movies made fun of nerds and game culture wasn’t a thing.
I grew up in a time (late 80s) when computer people were weird and not understood.
Seeing Tim Curry and others in the cutscenes was so surreal.
Love your overall point but this was RA3 right? PC gaming was definitely mainstream by then. If you meant RA1/2 era, 100%
Maybe people just didn’t think I was cool. heh. I don’t know when it went mainstream, but it probably helped being younger than I was as I’d expect kids growing up with that to have more friends into it, whereas I was born in 1975 and didn’t get my first computer until 1987, and back then, I didn’t know anyone else who had one.
I did have a couple of friends with consoles, so it was maybe starting to take off mostly with kids. heh
We may agree that his most remarkable work can be summarized as “Don’t dream it, be it,”
He’s dead? I just watched Scary Movie 2 and was wondering why I hadn’t seen him in a while :(
He died recently, but he suffered a stroke some years ago that left him partially paralysed.
