About time we see some more Shran memes in this community. Heck yeah.
Easily one of the best parts of ENT. And how could he not be? Jeffrey Combs is a treasure.
But have you seen “Doctor Mordrid”?
Oh shit I never even heard of this, 100% adding this to my queue thanks
There’s a Mystery Science Theater 3000 version as well, in case you’d like to add some riffing to your viewing.
Amen.
I dig Shran, but for me Weyoun on DS9 will always the best of Combs’ non-Herbert West performances.
Yeah but if Shran was specific enough to call Archer pink-skin he’d hit Sisko with probably brown.
Of course if he said mocha-skin he’d Shran would still probably get punched
Generally, animals are much better at telling between members of their own species than members of other species. So, it may be that human brains are more hardwired to see more distinct colors in the range that comprises human skin.
What I’m saying is that it wouldn’t be shocking if Andorians didn’t notice that much of a difference between the skin colors of Archer and The Sisko, and conversely, they may have different names for shades of blue in their skin that are strikingly obvious to them, but not to humans.
So, it might actually be that an Andorian would consider them both pink skins. Which might not make things better, though.
3 pink-skin pigs.
Source: I’m human

Those are within the range of human skin colors. It doesn’t have to actually be a human.
Behold, a man!
Quite Diogenes in your refutal.
When you look at that picture, you can obviously only see what a human can see. In fact, photographs and monitors are made for human eyes seeing things as a human would see them. A pig looking at this picture on my monitor might understand the image but think the colors are slightly off.
If a pig saw these three pigs together in person, they might tell them apart for different reasons than you, a human would.
And these are domesticated pigs, bred to look the way that a human wants them to look. Easy for humans to tell different breeds apart.
Pretty sure he called Travis pink skin once or twice

I feel like this is an inherently unprovable claim given that we haven’t met any aliens that can corroborate.
We see it with a lot of animals. E.g. penguins can quite easily pick out known penguins from a group. Meanwhile, the average human wouldn’t be able to tell you much more than “it’s a penguin”.
With humans it’s (at least partially) a learnt skill. Farmers can tell cows etc apart easily. I would struggle. We even run into it within our own species. E.g. I struggle differentiating people of races I don’t see as often. It can be very annoying at times. I’m also definitely not the only one.
If he turns up the gamma and saturation when watching DS9, like I do, he might say gold skin.
It’s a funny joke, but lets me real. Shran would probably win that fight.
The Sisko won a fistfight against Q.
Sisko punched Q once, and Q was so entertained that he didn’t do anything about it. Don’t play.
I think it was more that he was just that surprised
Be that as it may, I prefer to go by what a series shows us that a character can do rather than just assume some non-existent subtext. Other’s have mentioned that Sisko is half Prophet. At that point in the show we didn’t know that and at least on TV it was never demonstrated that being part Prophet gave Sisko anything other than some precognition (excluding his god-fight with Dukat). Saying that Sisko would have beaten Shran (A person who’s culture was highly militant and had ritual fights to the death), because he got away with punching Q once is just…bad theory.
I’m not saying Shran would wipe the floor with Sisko. I just think that speed wins out over strength. Sisko’s body is built for brawling. Granted he’s also a tactician, but so is Shran.
If nothing else it would be a good fight, but I’ve gone way to deep on this for a meme.
I mean, I’m not weighing in on who would win between sisko and shran, just my read on sisko’s “fight” with Q
Q doesn’t strike me as a gracious loser, even over petty things like this. Perhaps he made the best of a bad situation.
Despite appearances, Q aren’t all-powerful in every way. Depending on your take, The Sisko is either part Prophet, or is at least backed by The Prophets. Their relationship to time might be an issue for Q.
I love the idea of Q effectively teasing an ant, knowing it won’t even bother trying to hurt him, because it knows it can’t. Only to find himself on his arse with a black eye, thinking WTF just happened… HOW!!!
If only he remembered his past lives Edit: or future lives, times a flat circle or something
Shran: the pink skins, I mean the humans
Travis: am I a joke to you?
And Hoshi looks on, quizzically.
LOL. That’s a good laugh. Good stuff.
… But still, I’ve never met anyone who’s #FFF nor #000 … The more ambiguous “pink”, is perhaps more accurate in its vagueness, or even as a hard #F0F. But there are elements of earth culture that care not for such literal pedantry. Interpretation’s a bitch that can turn someone from #0FF to #00F (…or #F0F to #F00), attempting such.
We trekkies share the dream, a universe where we’re judged not on our hex code, but the content of our character.
