I have a buddy who watches those Nintendo directs religiously, video games are like his special interest. I’m honestly surprised he didn’t bring it up, I hope he’s ok lmao

I totally missed it initially, because there were two Nintendo Directs - Tuesday (40th Zelda anniversary) and Wednesday (the regular one).

Also - at least in my circle - there was a debate about 2D Metroid vs 3D Metroid and maybe that’s a general thing regarding Metroid fans? Idk, I’m not that deep into the franchise.

Also I heard from some something to the extent of “FML not another dread 2”. And I get it. While Dread was generally great, I had it twice send me in a death loop in an E.M.M.I area where I constantly respawned right in front of the E.M.M.I. and the only way to progress was to survive the inevitable (quite unfair) insta-death QTE AND get to the next checkpoint without dying… (Technically I didn’t respawn right in front of it, but in front of the door leading to it, but that door was the only way to progress and after going through you were right in front of that fucker, no matter what I did)

I totally get that concern, some of the QTEs in Dread are not my fav (the Experiment Z-57 boss is a big exception though, I loved that QTE sequence). I think I only got away from an EMMI a few times in my whole playthrough.

But I have to say, I do love the tone and pacing of Dread, and the more “Doomguy”-style Samus they’re evoking. I’m willing to bet this new one will have some of the missteps of Dread, but if it builds on what Dread got right that’ll be good enough. I’m probably skipping this console generation entirely though, so I don’t really have much of a dog in this race (unless they go wide with this release or I manage to emulate it, either is fine by me).
