It’s never easy… but if we turn our backs on our principles, we stop being human.

Honestly, instead of new Star Trek shows, I’d love a focused remake of Voyager. It was a great show, but a modern retelling without the “story of the week” mentality of the 90s shows could be a really great TV show. Voyager but more like Battlestar Galactica (as originally intended) could be really cinematic, even if it’s just 3 seasons or something.

Still, regardless, the original is a lot of fun and stands up well and the trailer is really good. But Voyager’s biggest weakness was the constant reset each week to “normal”; things progressed but not in quite the same way as DS9 and it never got to into the level of characterisation and struggle that would have really made it show the characters at their best and why the federation ethos could be so powerful even in the darkest times.

Currently in a rewatch in the middle of season 3, and while this is well done, everything is darker, like they took all the DC and recent Trek as examples to follow for lighting.
