car care in general will cost you more than riding public transport.
Theres the cost o storing the car which requires a garage or patking lot to protrct it from elements,
The maintenance for th e oil , the transmission, axles , engine, windows , windshiled wipers and fluid, tires, etc…
Theres the insurance
AND THEN theres the gas
and you didn’t even mention the car itself lol

Ige come to realization over the years that Ive been able to save thousands upon thousands of dollars all because Ive opted to just walk everywhere rather than buy or rent a car. Now Im obviously not a millionaire but holy shit Im sure my account would be reading negatives every week if I did own a car.
I feel a n unusual nt of concern for those who are poor but also dont have widely available wheel trans in their municipalities and use their car to transport disabled relatives or associates…
650,857 people riding the D sounds great, until you realize the population of LA is 3.86 million, which means a maximum of 17% of LA residents ride the D at least once a month, and considering some people almost certainly ride the D multiple times a week, you’ve got to assume there’s a large part of LA that doesn’t ride the D at all.
…sheesh so much riding of D. Someone needs to fly me out to los angeles 😳
When I add up all the numbers, I get 5,757,974 riders. Certainly a huge number of that is transfers between lines and also people coming in from other parts of LA Country/Greater LA, but that is still a significant number that indicates a very high level of usage. Also, the D line is not yet complete and is being expanded as we speak. Its ridership will increase.
We were there 3 or so weeks ago. It was amazing how interconnected everything was, so much different from when I lived there in the past. Traffic, as best I could tell, was also so much better (we didn’t drive, just observation). LA really became a much better place.
