I came to ask “how is it better than Moonlight” and among all the ads I found the answer:
“Play it from anywhere” sounds like game streaming, but that’s not actually what’s happening. The server is never tasked with running the games, it just hands your clients a ROM, your save file, and the device you’re using is the one doing the emulation.
Neat!
Woah, I had no clue this is possible. Hadn’t tried Moonfin so far, quite happy with Findroid on my mobile devices, but I’ll take another look.
Holy cr&p. Nice! It never once occurred to me that this was possible.
Does Plex have this feature?
If it works for you it’s certainly a plus for Jellyfin, but I would probably look into something dedicated for retro gaming. There are a number of solutions for retro self hosting.
One for example is RomM which helps with syncing saves across devices and lets you play some things directly from the browser.
Oh ok, I’ll check that out, thanks!
Hell no
Guess I should switch back then, I had paid for the lifetime Plex before so that’s why I’m using it

Never heard of this before, I may give it a go! Thanks for sharing.
Is there a plugin to stream games from the server ? Instead of the client doing the emulation.
Not a plugin, but https://moonlight-stream.org/ is a service a lot of people use for streaming their own games.
