This is the same chart, but with the 99-99.9% slice broken out too.

The view by share is more telling IMO:

- The top 1% have 32.5% of the wealth. This is up from 22.8% in 1990
- The 90-99% have 36.4% of the wealth. This is down from 38% in 1990
- The 50-90% have 28.8% of the wealth. This is down from 35.7% in 1990
- The fact that the bottom 50% have 2.3% of the wealth. This is down from 3.5% in 1990
The fact that 50% of our population has a single digit share of wealth is a travisty.
The only group growing share is the 1%. Their per capital numbers are eye-watering. The 90-99% do have about 4x the per capital wealth as the 50-90% group, but the top 1% are literally 10x that on a per capital basis. The top 0.1% are eye-watering wealthy compared to anyone else.
According to this site (https://wid.world/income-comparator/), the top 10% in the US take in ~$150k/adult, and has a total wealth of ~$1M/adult.
It’s about double that on both of those to break into the top 5%.
I suspect there’s a lot of folks in high-COL regions that fit the top 10% income but not wealth.
Won’t work. That 10% is plugged in to power and will swing the vote every time.
Gotta target the top 1% because even the upper middle class can’t identify with them. If you can get that passed, becomes easier to tweak the thresholds later.
The top 10% get fucked by taxes. Too much money for the public to care, not enough money to rig the government in their favor.
Even the top 0.1% aren’t really the problem.
It’s the top 0.001% that need to be taxed to extinction. They aren’t even on that chart because nobody knows how much they have.
