      UK here (so not EU but this isn’t something that’s changed since we were) that’s not really true, most companies would raise an eyebrow if you want to take that much of your holiday in one go. Plus it would leave you working like an American for the rest of the year.

          Anybody in the EU is rich when a lot of people can’t really afford to eat out once a month since they get paid barely above the absolute minimum to maintain a living while in Germany for example 2 families own more than half the population combined. Only because Paris is near and we get paid vacation doesn’t mean we actually have more money to enjoy life per se. And Paris is expensive.
