The society in the game uses a global currency called “euro-dollars”. I’m not sure the concept of countries is relevant in the future depicted by the game. The wars and politics are about corporations, not governments.

Never played the game, but I thought it was in Spain for some reason.

Oh yes, I get that, I meant geographically, not in an actual national sense.
