The big difference is of course that you can electrify trains, as has happened in much of Europe and Asia, but not for most of Amtrak

    It’s more of a U.S doesn’t build infrastructure anymore-problem.

    Running diesel trains like they’re the soviet union.

    I’m sure it doesn’t help that the largest manufacturer of train diesel engines is American.
