The killing of George Floyd was a Flashpoint, just like Flint water or BLM. The racial component had no power to affect the mostly white state or federal government, and all those thing resulted in MORE police power, not less.

Sure, fundamentally people who engage with a right wing version of a populist message are still looking for the same things. But where the separation happens is how these groups deal with negative externalities.

You need to build coalitions to be voted in, in American politics.
