1 year agoLooking purely at your specs posted, I’d probably lean towards WD, mainly because it has a higher cache.
In terms of experience, I have an Ironwolf Pro 18TB, and some WD 20TB Red Pros.
The Ironwolf is noticeably louder than the other drives and often/frequently does a sound as if there’s heavy activity on the disk.
This is something to consider if you will have these drives in the same room as you.
Simplest solution (which I have also used in the past) is to schedule a turn off event at say 4am and 6am.
If it’s already off, then there will no difference.
Don’t over engineer the solution, unless you really have to :)
