  • I like the idea of being able to look at something that has already happened but still exists in some way. It becomes a reference for memory and how you look at a picture can change or evolve over time, too. Pictures taken ten years ago can take on a different meaning today. They can also be a bit mysterious and pose more questions than answers becoming a good thought exercise. Pictures can form their own version of reality depending on who is looking at them.

  • I used to work at a lab and would shudder at the total cost of scanning, printing and framing/mounting sometimes. Instead of traditional framing you can have prints mounted to different types of board. Like dibond, aluminum or acrylic, face mounting or gator board, for example. A bit more modern looking since you don’t have a mat board and a frame. Is usually hung using aluminum tubing mounted to the back of the board and hung that way.

  • I enjoy watching documentaries on photographers. Doesn’t matter who it is, or the type of work they do really. But to see what they’re doing, their process, why they’re doing it and how they got there can be helpful. The way some artists can talk about their work sparks creating something to me at least. It’s a good reminder that a project can take a long time to complete, too.

This short doc on Paul Graham is a good example.

A recent one on Jill freedman made me want to get out and shoot. She’s a badass.
