When 33% of the population agree that immigrants ‘poison the blood’ - what’s your take on that?
Should we assume that some very well balanced people believe that foreigners have poisonous blood?

So all the Caucasians must leave? How dumb are you?
I’m struggling here to avoid being offensive - but really, Americans often appear to me to be averaging subhuman intelligence.
Yesterday I was reading about Latino MAGA’s who just assume Trump isn’t talking about them…
For sure, as a teenager - interest in music
switched from interest in music to finding music videos that got girls in 'em'.
I talked to a guy from Springfield - and he says personally he doesn’t think it will make any difference to him whichever one gets in, because right now it’s just talk.
So his idea basically is that whoever he votes for, he’d gonna get screwed over again… this is the decline of democracy and the rise of the post-truth politicians… in many ways, watching Trump is like watching Putin’s mill putting out news - all fake and contradictory news helping to convince that all news and politicians are fake.
I’d agree with this - for Trump, it’s basically just a personality thing and his policies and what he says are less relevant (everyone knows he’s just a joker that talks crap… so you should ignore what he ACTUALLY says and trust that he will deliver… sth like that) whereas for Harris, people listen to what she doesn’t say and expect that she’s hiding the fact that she’ll install surgeries in schools to do stealthy operations so she can send Harry home as Harriette…
I do feel more optimistic that the world can be saved from more Trump - but it’s not yet guaranteed.
Is this thread intended for 1. Android/mobile users 2. iOS/mobile users 3. People with computers/mouse/keyboard or what? It seems most Lemmy threads are pretty exclusively aimed at mobile users.
You’re joking, right?
My computer is set to 1. Warn me at 9.25 to accept or cancel suspension at 9.30. 2. Set volume to 10% and suspend at 9.30 (just in case it gets woken up, I once woke it up at 4am and had a radio application wake up the family). 3. RTC Wake set to 5.59 4. 6.25am my wakeup music plays.
I have suspend, also hybrid - where it will suspend, and after a certain time (useful for laptops, mine’s set for 12 hours so I never hit this unless I go on holiday) it’ll hibernate.
Fundamental error - as usual with Windows news.
These ‘Start Menu Ads’ aren’t rolling out to everyone, I have zero ‘Start Menu Ads’. In fact, I have Zero Ads in my operating system.
Why must Windows news always assume that everyone runs Windows? Isn’t this the main bug with all operating systems?
Haha Pornhub - proof that most visitors use Windows, and they’re a bunch of wankers.
I was watching an interesting debate at Oxford University the other day - they pointed out that in countries where Religion is taken more seriously, the people are less happy and more corrupt.
The best countries, Eurpean countries with great social care and low unemployment, are countries where religion dies out - people don’t care because they’re happy.
USA is very special, the MOST religious (except for our famous Middle Eastern Muslim and Jewish countries) and the MOST violent (same exceptions).
When Religion is high on the agenda, you know it means there’s a ton of trouble… and with the USA, the leader of the country is effectively the leader of the Religion also.
So really, it’s not just me that found him to be producing smarmy and careless content? My first views were of his various challenges - where they consistently ‘proved’ that people can’t do things in an OS that they don’t have experience with, which means they’d be better off doing it in a much worse OS that they used since they were kids - and therefore it’s better.
I really liked Nexus’s video - though it didn’t help me as I wouldn’t waste time on LTT. I don’t like or trust these coroporate video mills, any more than I trust Google/Youtube - they don’t give a toss as long as the money flows and they didn’t get sued.
Ah, when I do that, I see ‘Subscribe Pending’ :(
Strangely, I cancelled and subscribed again - now ✔ joined
Well, despite the difficulties translating to Federated platforms, I will certainly be working on alternative social platforms.
I no longer use Quora or Facebook…
I unsubscribed my ‘YouTube’ channels and added them as RSS feeds, so there’s no need for me to be signed in there to consume content from creators I follow.
I hope that a month or two with the Fediverse will allow me to understand it better. I’m sure that many Fediverse users will also remain on Reddit and be able to advise folks on what to do.
If anyone on, for example, r/firefox announced activity over here, I’d follow them here. So whatever the ‘bots’ say, I know what’s occurring in my corner.
Dead links don’t help… join-X.org
I’m working on this, but getting onboard is very tough!
Difficult.
I just found a post - which I wanted to add a comment to - but I’m now logged in with Lemmy.world - so when I opened that comment (link) in a new tab, I’m told that I can either log in, or subscribe here (copy/search !technology@beehaw.org) which now shows ‘Subscribe Pending’.
So basically, communication isn’t being facilitated in this instance - this is a huge barrier. If a connection, or subscription is required to reply, then this needs to be automatic.
So what is the answer?
Maybe push for laws - the purchase of a plastic bottle include 25 cents surcharge on the bottle.
Then you can toss the bottle in the street, and the homeless can scavenge for bottles and make a decent wage for a day’s work - and still there’s enough left over to deal with the plastic.
