  • Eh, I might buy it on sale since I already have the other Castlevania collections on Switch. They’re convenient to play and I liked the portable games quite a bit. Ecclesia is probably my favorite in the series!

But yeah, also, emulating on Steamdeck would probably be better, but more work to set up and hunt down ROMs.

Speaking of Ecclasia, why did the DS have such great entries in several series? Days of Ruin is also my favorite Advance Wars game, and I feel like both were later games, darker in tone than previous, with actually good use of the touchscreen.

  • I think I’d honestly reboot it. A remake of the original Terminator could work really well, maybe even as a limited series. Sarah and Kyle have to stay on the run from a perfect hunting machine.

If low budget, stick to the tension and horror elements. If high budget, intercut with scenes of the future war that John is leading to make the stakes clearer.

If that works, then I’d probably adapt elements of T2 and later films into a new story line for second season, maybe borrowing from T3 or the SCC show. T2 is an action masterpiece and you could only do worse trying to replicate it.

I would definitely stick to human actors and humanoid machines. Later movies tried to be more realistic with drones that look like actual military drones. Those are scary, but don’t make for good TV because people want a humanoid bad guy. I might incorporate dog robots though, those are pretty freaky.

Ultimately, you want to be true to the themes of the series. Drone warfare and the dangers of combat automation are certainly part of that, but also the fear of infiltration (very cold war coded) and the fear of inevitability (time is shown to be inflexible, often represented in the series by time travel, nukes, and judgment day itself.

  • Oh you have no idea how deep my paranoia on this goes! We’ve been implementing Dynamics 365 at my office, MS made software that manages your entire business from the accounting ledgers on out. Copilot AI is everywhere in it, trying to encourage you to teach it how to do things.

MS wants to offer the next generation of knowledge worker. No more accountants, no more senior managers of inventories and all those many miscellaneous titles it takes to run a company. Certainly no more technical support. AI is going to do it all. MS wants to tell every business how to do business.

  • There’s no such thing as perfect security of course, but in this case it’s because having my phone number and address isn’t the same as having my phone. So short of a SIM clone or something like that, the MFA on those accounts still adds one layer of protection. There’s also “security” questions and, protip, the answer to what high school I went to is not which high school I went to. It’s just another, different pass phrase.

I’m just not worth the trouble to beat all the extra layers of security when there’s millions of people who’s money is far easier to get at.

  • It’s a massive pain in the ass, but every American should freeze their credit with the 3 agencies. Their websites are shit, they will sign you up for credit card ads no matter what you click, and every bit of the process will make you seethe with rage at how fucked and incompetent the whole system is. But go do it anyway.

I did it last year after the state DMV was hacked and lost every personal detail for basically everyone in the state who drives. It was real nice not having a loan taken out in my name a few months later when Experien called me out of the blue to ask if I really wanted to unfreeze.

I also did have to legit take out a loan later and it was easy. Just call one of the agencies and do a temporary unfreeze for 24 hours. Amazingly, they let you unfreeze to take out more loans very simply. Wonder why it’s so hard to freeze in the first place? Almost like they don’t give a shit who’s creating the debts as long as some poor somewhere can be held to account for it.
