I don’t know if it was actually under rated or unrecognized where it aired, but as someone who was trawling for TV to watch that you don’t see in North America, I fucking love Monkey Dust out of the UK.

I have two spots on the other side of the country, that I haven’t seen in almost twenty years, that still serve this function if trying to calm myself down. One is a waterfall in what was then a very lush patch of forest. Another is a quiet bay surrounded by pine trees.
If I’m having a rough time, more likely than not I’m slowing down my breathing and visualizing one of these places.
This is an excellent example to pull if you ever want to talk about memetic warfare as a concept.
Or questions that sound like they’re rhetorical, or being asked for provocation’s sake, but are being asked in good faith.
Source: I say ‘honest question’ a lot, and not as a rhetorical device - I just want real answers to questions that might be dumb/asked dishonestly (e.g. as put-downs) in other contexts.

Frame it in a cheap glass case with a little placard that says “Break glass in case of cereal emergency”
IIRC, sh.itjust.works refederated with hexbear several months ago. I just don’t think the userbase engages in a lot of those communities.
Then again, I browse by All New pretty frequently, and I’ve never seen a hexbear post that way that I can recall. So idk.
I feel like there’s WAY more of a story here - why on earth would a bunch of folks think you hacked them just because you have a commonish, if esoteric sounding, skill set? - but if you’d rather leave it there that’s cool.
I’ve been working from home for almost 5 years now, and to be honest it drives me nuts. I kinda miss people, thus the bar. Not exactly the healthiest social outlet, to be fair, but I like it more than staying home.
Boo! Go to a bar and ask someone weird questions! You might get cornbread, who knows?
Raising one to you my friend - I know how tough it is to connect with people after moving sometimes. 👊

Oof, right in my consummate v’s…

If I have this kind of influence, please let me know where I can guffaw so y’all can get some socialized health care.
Oh, 100%, dude was factually correct and I didn’t chuckle at him, just found the whole “Canadian in a Californian dollar store buying ‘exotic’ Japanese beer that is actually Canadian macrobrew from a brewery 5 hours west of his home” thing really amusing.
It was from far away - like, the other side of the continent - but not the kind of far away you’d expect given the branding.
Edit: That said, this was several years ago - a little Googling suggests that if I did this now, it would be even less exotic, and brewed by Stone Brewing in Escondido, CA.
Canadian, so it’s not all that different, but why. can. I. buy. liquor. in. a. PHARMACY?
Don’t know if this is just a California thing, but it was weird as fuck. What’s even weirder, in light of this, is they didn’t go whole hog and sell cigarettes too. 'Cause helf.
Side story: Went into a Dollar General and bought a can of Sapporo. Ok, not so weird, it’s functionally a super basic grocery store with a bunch of other cheap goods. Guy at the counter said, “Oh yeah, they make this beer in some place very far away”. Looked at the can - I’m pretty sure he meant Japan, not Guelph, ON Canada.
He wasn’t wrong but I did chuckle.
Now I’m curious, are there any FOSS dating apps out there? Even as kind of a joke?
Out of curosity, how was the weather in your end of the world? We had the same thing happen this year, but mostly because it was unseasonably warm.
Granted, it was also 'cause we had a fog machine this year, but the weather played a big part.
