I just used Amazon to audition 3 HE1000 variants, DCA Expanse, and some cheaper ones without any issues with restocking fees. I also used Crutchfield and auditioned the Yamaha YH-5000SE and had no restocking fees when returning.

Even though I usually use headphones, I think the Monarch Mk III is the most capable device I’ve ever used. It’s tuned incredibly out of the box, and you can easily EQ it to anything you like with the wide array of driver capabilities. For over the ears, probably the Expanse coming in close second.
