Nerds argue all the time about the darnedest things, like the Oxford comma. Which is abhorrent.
If the “or” is inclusive you shouldn’t use “either”

Apple and wait for Asahi Linux to finish their driver support 🫠 don’t know what to tell you man.
I have never tried framework laptops - maybe they’re glorious, maybe they’re junk - but of all the laptops I tried Apple are the only decent ones hardware-wise (and software-wise too if you like osx).
I don’t know who else makes decent laptops nowadays, but Lenovo isn’t it, and most likely won’t be.
Good luck hoping for anything about Lenovo, they’ve gone down and down the shitter ever since they “split” from IBM.
No I don’t own a framework nor plan to do so, I’m just an average IT guy who is forced to choose between Lenovo and Mac to work, and after the third garbage laptop in a row bit the bullet and got the Mac. I also own an x200 and a t430 that i was in love with - nothing to do with the present day latrines masquerading as computers.
Screw Lenovo really. Hope for some decent competition to framework (I hope for that too, they are currently the only ones in that niche) but don’t hope for it from them.
The German people, as a people, started as the unification of the Germanic tribes. The unified tribe called itself the tribe of all men, Alle Männer in modern German. The history of those times is narrated by romans and Greeks so we have a romanised version of that name, alamanni.
Of course they are that’s not the point. The price of meat is artificially deflated by subsidies, while the price of (for example) soy is artificially inflated by the food companies selling it as a novelty with immense margins.
It takes >20kg of soy to make 1kg of meat. There is no real reason, then, for a soy burger to be as or more expensive than a beef burger. Leave plant subsidies where they are, cut meat subsidies - suddenly it becomes financially sensible to eat that soy directly instead of through a cow, as it should be.
Edit: I realise I expressed myself poorly in the previous comment. By “vegan stuff” I meant processed stuff like burgers, not whole food plants.
“Without the money” - that’s the key. Meat is heavily subsidised, vegan stuff is not. Even though cows eat soy. Vegan stuff is more expensive than meat only because of fucked up market systems, nothing that can’t be fixed by adjusting regulations.
Downvoted for speaking the truth
No, weapons are not INHERENTLY evil - as you seem to say - nor they are good, they just are and it so happens that countries need them, either to attack or to defend. Making weapons is not an evil act per se, supplying Russia with them would be a terribly evil thing to do, while supplying Ukraine or simply stockpiling them in the west in preparation for a possible escalation is a very, very good act.
We may go to war with Russia in the future, you need to be very naive to think that’s impossible. It’s not likely but it’s a possibility that we must consider. We are seeing in the past year or two that drones are the new game changers in contemporary battlefields. It’s only because of drones on both sides that nobody is able to make advances on the frontline.
Russia has adapted eventually and is now building a shitload of drones with increasing capabilities. China is doing the same. So is Iran. All of our (collective west) enemies are investing in this, with the aim of being able to hurt us and our allies.
Now how is us developing drones (through private enterprise, as is custom in liberal societies) a bad thing? About bloody time I say.
I can’t see the whole thread while replying so I can’t assume I’m talking to the same person as the time before, hence the third person. If that was always you then feel free to replace it with a second, as it was meant to be.
There were no personal insults. Your post was silly. You may be a very nice person and probably very smart as well, but your post was still silly. There, second person used.
What you said made zero sense, had no connection to reality, and was strongly reinforcing the cancer of contemporary democracy that is polarisation. Your content - not you - is very very bad.
There is nothing wrong with it, everybody says stupid stuff from time to time - I do it too according to the amount of downvotes I got - but I take none of the disagreements with my contents as attacks on my person. I would encourage you to do the same.
No shit logical consistency is good and irrational behaviour is bad. Glad we agree.
The thing is, who’s the judge on who is irrational and who is logic? It’s such a polarised society that we live in nowadays, whoever you ask will say that their faction is the only logical one while the “other” is a bunch of marauding orcs.
Now this guy I replied to went and did the same trite “us logic, them stupid” take, accusing moderate people of some bad stuff as if that word meant anything, as if there was a “moderate” party that did anything concrete
Not just that, when polarisation is gutting our democracy, this guy attacks moderates as if extremism was the only orthodoxy. Loony bin material.
Far from me to be a both-side-er, I have my firm and very partisan convictions - but that has nothing to do with how silly the comment I replied to was.
Precisely.
Any group you don’t belong to is irrational and devoid of any logic whatsoever, not to mention WRONG.
Pesky moderates, they are insane just like the extremist, everybody is 100% a basket case except for me and you.
no it’s not Italy
Yet!
May be that way for a native English speaker I guess. I have never used it or seen it used as a moniker.
I don’t need to be constructive because I’m not talking to the show writers or anybody who is responsible for it. I’m in a community of fans, I thought we could just speak our minds about stuff here and say it sucks when it sucks.
Yes I wrote “objectively” because i didn’t just dislike the show out of personal taste, but because the writing is atrocious (ask anybody who knows anything about writing, it’s trite and shallow) and the Star Trek element just is not there. Call the first one subjective, but you can’t argue with the latter.
There are plenty of things about the show I dislike subjectively, and if you want I can write an essay on it - but that was not the point of my comment. The show has traits that are arguably bad regardless of taste. You may personally like to hear the ramblings of a drunk junkie and find plenty of amusement in doing so, and if that is the case then more power to you. But it doesn’t make it good material.
I’ll be honest here, the whole std thing feels rather immature. Yeah of course I thought of the other meaning for the acronym, didn’t think people would be so childish as to consider that. Let’s be real, every acronym in the world is probably also an acronym for something nasty - but you can’t take that burden on yourself every time you type. If you have a hard time believing i was honest then don’t believe it, but the fact that I’m being accused of something so trivial speaks more of the accuser than it does of me.
I didn’t mean to make a pun at stds, it’s baffling that people would interpret it that way. That show is crappy enough to insult itself, why would anyone bother calling it names. It doesn’t need any help being ridicule.
As for your “other acronyms” point: other series are made of multiple words. TOS, TNG, DS9, they’re all acronyms. Discovery is only one word, how are you supposed to call it? D? DSC is not an acronym, if I were to randomly select letters from the name just to save space I’d just call it by its full name.
I realised STD could mean both and decided to go through with it anyway because I thought we were talking between adults but clearly you made up your mind about me long before giving a damn about who I was.
Or maybe I just have different opinions from you on multiple things and you just told a regular guy like you to fuck off because of that. But ok, feel free to disengage.
I’m sorry for the naivety, maybe there is something cool I’m not catching.
Haven’t we had biodegradable, compostable “plastic” shopping bags for like 20 years now? What’s the news here?
