  • If the touchdown is thrown from the 1 yard line, the QB would be rewarded by gaining 99 yards on that play. The 20 “yards” they’re given is only to account for the fact that the single yard that ends up crossing the end zone is (obviously) a pretty valuable yard. It’s not that rough overall, I think we as football fans sorta understand that an interception is roughly worth 2 TDs, that’s why we know that a 2:1 TD/INT ratio is about average. Analytically it seems to be a tiny bit worse than that.
