My biggest problem with Proton is the price. Their family plan is $AUD800 (479 Euro) for 2 years at the cheapest price which is obscene. I can get a family plan with the likes of Microsoft (ugh) for just $260/2 years and it includes Office 365 as well.

How much do you care about the actual combat?

There are an absolute ton of games on Steam that cover the exploring and doing quests vibe and the amount of combat in them varies from none to some but not the main focus of the game. Here’s a few I’ve tried:

The situation kind of reminds me of titty streamers on Twitch. Everybody seemingly “hates” them yet they make an absolute killing regardless, because the silent majority think it’s perfectly fine.

Anecdotally speaking, if it wasn’t for medical cannabis I’d be on prescribed opioids + a concoction of other garbage as well.

Risk of Rain 2

I tried this one but I couldn’t get into it. I just kept getting overwhelmed by enemies and dying and I couldn’t figure out why and gave up.

Currently, 7 Days to Die, though I don’t like where it’s heading.

It’s varied over the years and included Total Annihilation, Wow, Dwarf Fortress and Rimworld among others.

Ha, mine does this when I lay down and want to go to sleep, it’s pretty damn annoying.

Video games have always been a great distraction from things for me instead.

A zombie building game like 7 Days to Die, but with the emphasis on building and not pogs per second on Twitch to drive sales.

Also No Man’s Sky but built from the ground up for PC with HOTAS support and far more varied and better procedural generation.

I’d say most if not all the up votes it’s getting are from their own accounts. Imagine having nothing better to do than this.

Even if you wanted to stay as a mod you’d have to have taken a shot to the heart after all of Reddits shinanigans lately. Years of free effort and this is the thanks you get. Absolutely disgusting betrayal of people who have done a mostly fantastic job keeping the wheels on the beast all these years and I’m absolutely stunned they did it.

RIP Reddit as we currently know it.

Then it’ll just be Jerboa on my phone because I refuse to reinstall that piece of crap official Reddit app entirely. If a Google search takes me to Reddit for an answer I’ll just use my browser until they eventually kill that too probably.

I think it’s important not to become overly attached to an identity on any social media platform, which is kinda the concept they’re going for here. Your post history doesn’t really matter in the big scheme of things for the most part and will still be there anyway unless that server shuts down (even then there’s ways around that if you’re really concerned).

Personally, I was already in the habit of creating a new Reddit account about once a year so that any previous baggage, things I’d revealed about myself and so forth didn’t follow me for too long. Once I got over that big karma number go up dopamine hit I stopped caring at all for my previous identities. I say this as someone who has accounts on Reddit dating back to almost the very beginning.

Me too. I suffer from PTSD myself so I avoid things like the war coverage in Ukraine. The app is full of it and I can’t filter it fully like I can in RIF.

The official Reddit app reminds me of that vibe in that it’s trying to be an algorithm-based feed of /r/all garbage to piss you off in the name of engagement and doesn’t resemble the Reddit I originally fell in love with years ago.

I made an irc client in MIRC using MIRC script before it had multi-server capability and thought I was so smart and then a few months later they released the update with it in it. Oh well, it was fun at the time!

Tried the official Reddit app today and boy people weren’t joking when they say it sucks. I thought it’d just be the usual experience plus some ads but I was totally wrong.

The official app doesn’t respect your subreddit subscriptions at all, instead force feeding you feeds of whatever their algorithm thinks will drive maximum engagement just like a shit version of Facebook. The “hot” etc functionality is completely stipped from it entirely.

Guess I’m here to stay on the fediverse now.

I don’t think we’ll see a Lemmy etc of YouTube unless a lot of people are cool with sharing their bandwidth for little benefit.
