Fred needs more credit for the defensive turn around too. Almost every player can shoot over him, but he impacts the team defense a lot. Off the ball you’ll see him being a pest finding ways to interrupt players who are trying to curl off of screens and get open. Warriors broadcasters even mentioned how much he was grabbing and hipchecking both Steph and Klay when they were moving off the ball. He also has some of the strongest hands in the league. Whenever he digs his hands into a player who’s driving and foolish enough to bring it low it’s almost always a steal.

Dr J against both Bird and Magic is worth mentioning. He went up against Bird four times and went 2-2, and Magic three times 1-2. Bird and Dr J were beating each other up in the east, and the winner then had to go up against Magic in the finals. Dr J could have been much higher on the all time list if one of Bird or Magic didn’t exist, but he ended up becoming victimized by both of them.

No one thinks he should be making more than those stars.
