This sounds like something I put on my resume to get a coding job, but I’m not actually a coder.
It’d work, too.

steam is a monopoly almost entirely on merit, they’ve done little to no market manipulation to get into this position. the solution is to encourage competitors to offer similar features and not force steam to bend over backwards allowing game transfers or what have you. game transfers which people largely won’t utilize because they’re already no leaving steam, giving them additional options to leave steam won’t do anything.

Australia, already infamous for detoothed unions, just signed the death knell for any serious collective action in a legal sense with this one. Unions already cannot strike without express permission and a promise they won’t impact economic livelihood, now they can’t even grow to a certain size and power without the threat of being placed under administration.
Oh, and it was the government party supposedly made of labor unions that did this. Still waking up every day pissed off about this.
Advertisements suck and no regular person would ever advocate for seeing more of them. Enshittification is also out of control and ad-free services you pay a subscription for are more and more sneaking in ads where they can. This combination of facts is why I am a deranged data hoarder with self-hosted solutions wherever possible.
I just really really hate ads. If I had a Roku and this change rolled out to me I’d probably flip.
