You’re not going to like this answer, but get a G-Shock for hiking and fishing. If you’re truly looking for something robust and functional you can’t beat it. Save the luxury watches for when you’re not doing those activities…

I like the DJ better - although can you actually get that specific model (with green dial) from an AD? If not, then you need to compare secondary prices between the two and the DJ will be a lot more than just 350 euros more
If running water existed in Medieval times, everyone would have used it… If cars existed in the 1800s, no one would have used horses… If gun powder had existed, no one would have used arrows… Thanks Sherlock!!!
Does not look like an easily identifiable model. Most likely not real gold - probably quartz - probably worth about $200
That’s a nice Swatch!
I believe that is Michael Scott
So how did you maintain the passion over those 15 years?
nice!
did you sell any of your watches during the lull?
Same!
that’s a good question. I always liked watches but didn’t know much about them. But once I had extra cash with nothing else to spend it on during the pandemic, I figured I would splurge on a luxury watch. Then I went down the rabbit hole of learning about different brands, models, complications, etc.
so what are the kinds of things you do to maintain the passion?
What about people who collect coins, stamps, model trains, etc. I think you’re view of a hobby is a bit narrow
If I had a much larger budget I’m sure I’d be buying more - but right now I just have other things I’d rather spend money on
Pilot / Dive / Dress… pick the one you think you’ll wear the most.
If you are in the market for a watch that sells for $100k - are you really going to take a chance with something that might be fake? Do you have nothing better to spend your money on?
In what city? Not mine that’s for sure
Even on this sub there are far fewer people posting their Swatch x Blancpain.
I think it’s a combination of things: the higher price-point, Blancpain being less popular than Omega, and the watch craze is starting to die down a bit. People had lots of free time and extra cash during the pandemic years - that’s been changing this past year or so.
