1·6 days agoI think it’s more so that they can post the same thing frequently, hoping that it gets burned into peoples’ brains.

7·7 days agoIt’s just another type of advertising to them. Ask a question trying to solve a problem, then use your alt account to shill your own solution.

9·7 days agoOn Reddit especially, it usually was people asking a question, then having their alt account respond with whatever they were trying to shill, and just doing that over and over again.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Strava just killed its free API, will require a subscription if you want to build on top of itEnglish
2·8 days agoStarting today, all current and future applications will automatically receive access to the Standard developer tier. This allows you to serve up to 10 athletes and start building immediately, completely eliminating the previous queue.
Then on june 30th
Subscription required for existing Standard Tier developers. A Strava subscription will be required to access the API as a Standard Tier developer. Active developers* without a current subscription are entitled to 3-months free. If you’re eligible, you will have received a code via email. Extended Access Tier developers are not affected.

1·15 days agoThat looks cool, I also just discovered https://github.com/VoidenHQ/voiden, which seems similar but uses Markdown instead.

1·23 days agoYeah, that’s always a struggle with scraping, lots of sites don’t like it, even if you try and be respectful.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•aliasvault/aliasvault: Privacy-first password manager with built-in email aliasing. Fully encrypted and self-hostable.English
3·26 days agoI recently started migrating away from 1Password. I was on the individual plan for almost 5 years, but this year they would raise the price. I would happily keep paying, but I just find that the quality has just gone downhill. The Firefox extension seems to freeze up quite often, or unlocking doesn’t work, or sometimes it takes 10 seconds +…
The browser extension was also feeling a bit intrusive. It would often pop up for non-login fields. There’s also no way to disable it for specific sites.
All in all, I just grew frustrated with it, and decided to switch to Bitwarden. I’m just on the free one, so I am missing quite a bit of functionality.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Portabase 1.14: Open source database backup/restore toolEnglish
1·28 days agoI know that, but it’s part of the self-hostable Ente suite. I might remove it as a 2FA alternative, as it seems to confuse people.

2·29 days agoEnte Auth is an alternative to other 2FA tools tho. It’s just that it’s part of the whole Ente suite.

Just played around with the demo, and looks very promising.
