  • I think the ability or willingness to have a decent conversation with people who have a different opinion is important for the advancement of ideas and a cornerstone of what we call civilization. I find it so weird to see how people “debate” these days instead of conversing, it’s somehow more about winning than finding the truth of a matter. Watch for example how political discourse has changed over the last few decades, compare discussions from the 70s like Chomsky vs Foucault to the circus of today. People are already largely separated in different platforms, blocking only exacerbates the bubble effect. That being said, to each their own and I hope your life is better for it.

Absolutely true, but assists are just one facet of the game, even greats like Nash in basketball or Pirlo in football whose passing was what made them famous, did everything else too. Imho being able to visualize the entire court/pitch etc and to create plays requires the highest level of mastery, it’s absolutely amazing to watch and the few times I was able to pull something like that off, it’s a better feeling than scoring. That being said, this doesn’t translate well to the sex with a vibrator scenario because it’s not quite a team game. It’s an inanimate fucking object that your partner prefers to you. You’re not Steve Nash opening the play for your team, you’re the ball boy.

It’s always funny to hear people who’ve never been part of a team speaking about team sports. Jenny thinks it’s fun to pass the ball to Lebron and watch him dunk - the few minutes you’re not on the bench that is 😂 It’s not about just winning, it’s about winning well. Joga bonito Jenny, I’d rather fuck the wall.

  • That’s true, but when people pay a fuck ton of money to buy a car, the expectation is that it will be able to handle longer trips as well. Sure, your every day may be to the supermarket and back, but you also want to load up the skis and go to the local mountain on the weekend, or to the beach in summer, meaning many hours driving in potentially very hot or cold weather - which affects the battery.

Doesn’t matter how good the EV infrastructure is, imho a car needs good range otherwise you might as well use public transport or ride a bike.

  • Lack of education breeds extremism. Kirk’s rhetoric is moronic and divisive. He made a living out of spreading hate and in that sense what he got was some old testament eye for an eye shit from a product of that rhetoric.

His politics have caused the death of thousands of innocent people so I don’t care that he’s dead, but someone else will replace him. He was so successful because people are uneducated and thus easy prey of nazi simplistic logic.

The bad thing is that assassinations like this are replacing political discourse. People don’t discuss any more, conversations are considered as confrontations, nobody is able to have an honest civilized exchange with people who hold opposing views.

We here on lemmy are pretty much aligned, others are similarly aligned in some nazi platform somewhere and there is no ideological friction. Hell even here, when people read something they disagree with they just downvote like fucking morons instead of engaging in conversation.
