I hate when watches have a bosom aperture on a day/night indicator. It’s something fakes and cheap watches do to make it look like a moonphase when it’s not. That’s a non-starter for me.
I’m also confused by the date numbers on the dial?
I recognize the practicality for some, but I think they look terrible. It’s a complete non-starter for me.

Send it back. Absolutely no reason for a new watch to be in that condition.
But even setting that aside, mechanical movements translate the stepped movement of a governor through a series of interlocking gears to achieve a smooth motion, I don’t see why something similar can’t be added to a quartz movement.
Your understanding of mechanical watches is incorrect. They aren’t somehow up-sampling the stepped movement of the ‘governor’ to make a more smooth movement. The balance of the watch ticks at a rate higher than 1Hz (4Hz is a very common beat rate.)
You can do with your money whatever you like, but if your monthly income is $2300, a $1000 watch seems very out of budget.
